An exciting role opportunity has arisen for a Software Developer to join an established team that is utilising many of the latest tools and technologies. As part of this role, you will be working within an agile scrum team to build and maintain the RESTful APIs that will underpin our digital applications.
As a Java Software Developer, you will join one of our API teams, helping to design and create industry first API estate using cutting edge open-source tools. You'll have exposure across the full software development lifecycle and will be working with a modern poly cloud microservices tech stack with opportunities to contribute to design decisions and technology choices. You will be supported and guided by Lead Software Developer within the team.
There is ongoing, well-funded training (AWS delivered courses for example), for both internal and external courses and opportunities for Microsoft and AWS Certification.
Aviva operates a "smart working" policy meaning that we spend approximately half of our time working in an office, and this role is based in Norwich.
Core skills and experience we're looking for:
- Experience with the core AWS services
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes having used EKS in the past is a plus.
- Spring Boot microservices web technologies such as HTTP, REST, JSON, XML,
- Strong Java background in JDK11 or above.
- Experience following TDD / BDD testing practices.
Preferred skills but optional:
- Apache Camel
- Experience in the configuration & management of CI/CD tooling i.e Terraform.
- Prometheus and/or AppDynamics
- Good mentoring and peer reviews experience with junior colleagues.
- API gateway experience.
