Transforming the Future with the Convergence of Simulation and Data

Software Development Engineer - Altair Inspire

Do you like a challenge, are you a complex thinker who likes to solve problems? If so, then you might be the new Altairian we are searching for. At Altair, your curiosity matters. We pride ourselves on a business culture that enables open, creative thinking, and we deeply value our employees and their contributions towards our clients' success, as well as our own.

Start Date:

Job Summary:

Altair’s Inspire software environment (https://www.altair.com/inspire/) is the industry's most powerful, versatile and easy-to-use Generative Design/Topology Optimization and rapid simulation solution. It enhances the concept development process by enabling simulation driven design to increase product’s efficiency, strength and manufacturability. This can lead to reduction in material consumption, development time, and overall cost. Inspire enables users to create new design concepts as well as modify and optimize existing ones with full parametric modeling in simple and intuitive workflows. Users can exercise familiar, conventional parametric CAD like tools along with doing elegant freeform modeling with surface meshes, poly-NURBS/subdivision technology and, now, an entirely new implicit modeling capability. The Software Development Engineer role is to develop prototypes of new cutting-edge design features and workflows. It will involve research, development of new modeling techniques, development of code in Python and C++. Ultimately, you will be helping to shape the technical roadmap of future features for the Inspire product.

What You Will Do:

  • You will work within our newly formed Implicit Modeling Team, helping to develop the algorithms (code), graphics and the user experience necessary to design digital models of complex 3D objects. Wherever practicable, you will seek to leverage the computer to automate the design of these components. You may need to draw on mathematics (geometry), techniques from computer graphics, techniques from machine learning and artificial intelligence, logic and lateral thinking to create ways to design digital models of products and components. You will be expected to conduct independent research, and verify the findings and techniques of other people. You should feel comfortable with technical challenges and setbacks, communicate openly, and strive to innovate at all times.

What You Will Need:

Basics

  • Qualifications in line with one of the following:
o Technical degree in e.g. mathematics, engineering, computer science, etc.,
o Degree-level qualification in animation, digital modelling or graphics programming of 3D objects and scenes.
o Substantial and demonstrable professional track-record in digital animation, digital modelling, or graphics programming for e.g. movies or computer games development,
  • Experience with programming in Python, MATLAB or another high-level
programming language.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing (AM) and the principles of Design for
Additive Manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrable track record working with mathematics and, specifically,
geometry to solve technical problems.
  • Demonstrable track record in applying lateral thinking and logic to solve technical problems.
  • Demonstrable track record in generating innovative solutions to problems,
rather than simply applying current best practices.
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment with proactiveness
and open-mindedness
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently in global environment

Preferred:

  • Experience programming in C++ or C#
  • Familiar with the use of GIT for revision control
  • Demonstrable track record of having generated digital models of 3D objects using programming rather than an existing CAD or modeling tools.

How You Will Be Successful:

  • Envision the Future
  • Communicate Honestly and Broadly
  • Seek Technology and Business “Firsts”
  • Embrace Diversity and Take Risks

What We Offer:

  • Paid Holidays
