Software Engineer Hardware

Jonathan Lee Recruitment is helping a collaborative company in the lighting control hardware and software sector recruit a Software Engineer (Hardware). As a Software Engineer, you will help be part of a small but growing R&D team, and their engineers are involved in the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. Building software for a range of hardware platforms. This is an onsite role based in their site at Millbrook, Southampton.

The key duties and responsibilities in this Software Engineer role, you can expect to take on some of the following:

• Design, develop and support solutions for our bespoke products. 
• Design and develop our applications user interface. 
• Create high and low-level software design using recognised methodologies. 
• Ensure software can be built on our continuous build system. 
• Produce documentation including requirements, change notes and user manuals. 
• Prepare and implement suitable test strategies. 
• Assist the support team with troubleshooting technical issues, developing and implementing corrective actions as needed. 
• Share knowledge and learning with other members of the software team. 

To apply for this Software Engineer role, you will need at least 3 years of professional experience in Software Engineering. You will also require:

• Experience developing in C/C++
• Excellent communication, technical, and problem-solving skills
• Experience in networking, USB, and implementing communication protocols
• Experience using source control and CI systems such as GitLab, Git, or Atlassian tools
• Agile Scrum development process experience
