Job description

Special Educational Needs (SEND) Leader
Location: Based in South Yorkshire (but with reimbursed travel to multiple boroughs for pick-ups, you may also be required to visit other sites for training and development as needed)
Hours: Full time (Mon-Fri)
Salary: £32,000
Contract Term: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP – Subject to appropriate DBS completion

Who will I be changing the lives of?
All of our client’s learners are aged between 16-25 years, have some level of additional need and as a result have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Some of the most common areas of need that learners experience are Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH), Autism (ASC), and ADHD although our client works with learners with a much broader range of needs.
Main Responsibilities
- To be responsible for a caseload of learners with EHCPs aged 16-25 years
- To act as the main point of contact for staff and services with SEND related queries
- To arrange and carry out Annual Reviews and PEPs as well as completion and submission of all relevant paperwork, acting as chair for these meetings when required
- To assist the Change Leader with the transition process for learners starting out as well as those learners leaving
- Responsible for overseeing the progression of learners on completion of the course
- Promote Inclusion best practice and contribute to the aims and ethos of the college

What to expect from the recruitment process:
- Application form submitted and reviewed by the panel
- Shortlisted candidates invited to a first stage interview
- Candidates who are successful at the first stage interview will be invited for a second stage assessment which may consist of an in tray task, scenario presentation or microteach along with time with the learners and a tour of the workplace
- Candidate selection – the panel will review any applications and a selection decision made
- Recruitment Manager will make contact with applicants to let them know the outcome of their interviews
