Job description

University of the Arts London has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Specialist Study Skills Tutor to join our innovative Disability Service.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Specialist Study Skills Tutor to join our innovative Disability Service.

As a Specialist Study Skills Tutor, approximately two-thirds of your time will be spent working directly with students, providing specialist 1:1 Study Skills tuition and SpLD screenings.

You will be responsible for associated administrative tasks and will need to establish good working relationships with a range of staff to ensure effective support for disabled students. You will work closely with other tutors and the Specialist Study Skills Coordinator and will participate in activities to develop processes and procedures to underpin the effective delivery of support.

You will be based at London College of Communication (Elephant & Castle) and London College of Fashion East Bank (Stratford). You will be expected to work flexibly across other college sites when required.

Please note this role is permanent, part time/term time only (0.627 FTE: 29.6 hours over 38 weeks).

About you

You will hold a recognised teaching qualification and specialist qualification in the area of SpLD support. You will hold professional membership with a professional body (e.g. Patoss, ADSHE, the British Dyslexia Association, or the Dyslexia Guild) that enables you to meet NMH/DSA-QAG registration guidelines.

You will have comprehensive training or a qualification in autism, or be willing to work towards this qualification within the first year of your appointment.

You will have experience of teaching students within a Higher Education/Further Education setting. Equally, you are able to work effectively in a team and are able to build and nurture good working relationships. You must be committed to inclusion.
