Role: Specialist Support Worker (Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking)

Salary: £25,200 pa
Hours: 37.5 per week (full time/ permanent)

Our client, a dedicated charity, committed to supporting refugees, unaccompanied asylum seekers, victims of domestic violence, and survivors of modern-day slavery, is seeking a Specialist Support Worker to join their team.
About the Role:
As a Specialist Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing support to survivors of modern slavery living within a safe house in West Yorkshire. This full-time position offers regular working hours from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with on-call responsibilities every 3 to 4 months (Monday to Monday, with no call-out required).
Synopsis of duties:
- Working within a safe house and key working 10-12 survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery
- Managing a caseload and provide emotional, practical and advocacy support through the Criminal Justice System
- Processing referrals from the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and inducting clients into the service
- Supporting clients with NRPF (No Recourse to Public Funds) to access support and identify alternative funding streams and services
- Working closely with the Home Office and Immigration services regarding asylum and residency applications and supporting clients to complete application and challenge decisions
- Supporting clients with all practical and emotional needs including move on housing, crisis funds/ benefits, sexual health support, finances and income management, community integration, education, training and voluntary opportunities, counselling, English lessons and to repatriate to their birth country (should they wish)
- Promote the service and ensure clients have access to all available services and working closely with a range of partners, agencies and services
Essential Requirements:
- Experience supporting vulnerable clients in supported housing, including those facing homelessness, domestic abuse, trafficking, modern slavery, mental health, and substance misuse.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a complex caseload.
- Emotionally intelligent with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and use initiative effectively.
- Background in Supported Housing, Refugee/ Asylum Seekers Support, or Domestic Violence Support is highly desirable.
