Specialist Teaching Assistant - Education Off Site

Southern Education are currently working closely with an SEN school in the West Kent location who are looking to appoint a Specialist Teaching Assistant to support students through their Education Off-Site department. An SEMH/ASC school, ideal candidates will have had experience working with challenging behaviour supporting students with their academic, personal and social development.

The role:

All of the learners at the school have EHCPs and the school work towards the end goal of helping students re-integrate into mainstream learning and preparation for adulthood.

If you would like to be part of this journey to support students’ lives, we are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join their Education Off Site Department. The role supports not only onsite learning for students struggling in the main school but also incorporates attending offsite provisions such as therapeutic farms and colleges, when required. Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will need experience with behaviour management, have a full driving licence and be willing to drive school vehicles.

Position Details:

• Hrs: Full - Time (Monday - Friday) 08:30 - 15:30
• Ages: 10 - 19 years
• SEN: Social, Emotional Mental Health
• Salary: Actual £20,000-£21,300 per annum
• Successful candidates able to apply for permanent contract

Due to the nature of the school lots of the students are from a care background and need someone who is going to show a lot of enthusiasm and be willing to get involved as part of a team. In addition to this you will be covering across all key stages and will need to have the flexible and adaptable working ethos required to support across all year groups.

Candidates Must:

• Be able to commit to working the hours specified above.
• Provide an enhanced DBS registered on the update service. If you do not hold a valid DBS be willing to apply for a new DBS. The cost of a DBS is a one-off payment of £38 with an annual subscription of £13 per year to the DBS Update Service.
• If you have been a UK resident for less than 5 years, a right to work visa must be provided and a criminal background check certificate must be provided for any country resided in for 6 months or more within the past 5 years.
