Sheffield Teaching NHS Foundation Trust are currently seeking organised and motivated candidates to work for the acute wards across 3 Hospitals in Sheffield; The Northern General, the Royal Hallamshire, and Weston Park Hospitals, under a long-term placement contract. The acute team works with adults in inpatient beds and provides Speech and Language therapy input for communication and swallowing disorders. The postholder will work collaboratively within relevant multi-disciplinary teams to ensure best practice and care is provided. The candidate will have proven post graduate training in dysphagia and experience of working on acute hospital wards as well as awareness and experience of the requirement for excellence in clinical record keeping. The candidate will be able to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Role Details:
- To provide clinical Speech & Language Therapy to a defined specialised caseload as part of the acute hospital team
- To provide a Speech & Language Therapy Service to adults with voice, swallowing and communication disorders
- To use specialist knowledge to inform sound clinical judgements/decision making for case management
- To make a differential diagnosis on client’s communication/swallowing on the basis of evidence from assessment seeking advice as appropriate
- To develop clear care plans based on best practice
- To maintain up to date, concise and accurate case notes in line with RCSLT professional standards and local trust policies
- To manage and prioritise own caseload independently
The Successful Candidate Will:
- Hold a Degree in Speech & Language Therapy or equivalent
- Be HCPC registered
- Have previous NHS experience at a band 6 level
- Have post graduate dysphagia training
- Practice in accordance with the professional, ethical, and legal codes of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and Trust and NHS protocols and guidelines
In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of:
- Relevant Qualifications
- Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable
