The post holder will benefit from working within a support team, robust supervision, appraisal programme, excellent in-house training and CPD. Supervision and support will be provided by Band 7 Speech and Language Therapists.

To prioritize and manage own caseload independently.
Your role will be across general medical and surgical wards, emergency department, whilst also working with our stroke service.
Providing training around eating, drinking and swallowing and communication to carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
To assess and ascribe a level of risk using adjuncts to the bedside assessment, which require technical skill e.g. cervical auscultation, pulse oximetry etc.
To identify and refer on to other specialists as appropriate e.g. ENT, FEES, VF etc.
To participate in audit activities in the team, including SSNAP for stroke patients.
To work as an autonomous practitioner managing an appropriately complex caseload under the guidance of a senior colleague.
Will liaise with other necessary agencies to establish robust communication networks with carers, other health workers and agencies in order to facilitate an integrated approach to care. This includes participation in multi-professional meetings, case conferences and other team meetings where they may be the sole representatives of their professional group.

As an autonomous practitioner to work as a member of the team based at Royal Bolton Hospital providing a specialist service to adults with acquired neurological Speech and Language difficulties, dysphagia (swallowing problems) on the hospital site.
To assess, differentially diagnose and treat a specified caseload of adults with Speech and Language disorders and also swallowing problems, who will be from a variety of ethnic and social backgrounds.
To work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing specialist advice at case conferences and scheduled meetings ensuring well co-ordinated care.
To liaise with, and train other health, education and social service professionals; and to work in partnership with parents/carers and external agencies to ensure the delivery of a high quality service
