An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly Therapies team in the Integrated Care Directorate at Velindre Cancer Centre on a part-time basis (22.5 hours per week). This post is offered on a fixed term contract for 23 month. Secondment cover would also be considered for this post; those seeking a secondment should gain agreement from their current line manager prior to applying for the post.
The Speech and Language Therapy Assistant will support the registered Speech and Language Therapists to deliver a high quality service to their patient population. The role will involve working directly with cancer patients, completing reviews, monitoring and advising patients as delegated by the Speech and Language Therapists. The successful candidate will participate in project work; the development and delivery of patient education; along with direct patient care for the benefit of the patients or the Speech and Language Therapy department. The post holder will also be required to undertake clerical and administrative duties to support the Speech and Language Therapists as part of their role.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 23 months to meet the needs of the service.

We are seeking a self-motivated, empathetic and organised individual who is able to work both independently and under supervision, applying a flexible approach to their work. The role will involve working with several clinical teams across the organisation and therefore strong and proven team working skills are required. Experience of working as a support worker within a Therapies service and experience of working with or alongside Speech and Language Therapist are also required.
Welsh speaking skills are desirable for this post, Welsh & English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
