What will you be doing?
The SRP Technical Engineer will be a member of the Combined Heat and Power team reporting to the CHP Maintenance Manager. To improve the performance and efficiency of operational assets and activities across all sites. You will provide technical support to the team and will undertake projects across the region, including, but not limited to, you will help with the optimisation of the function, installation of new equipment and capital intervention.
Duties will include:
Providing both technical and specialist support to the CHP and Sludge Technicians and to the wider team
Helping enhance the performance of the CHP and SRP assets
Ensuring all relevant Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to
Assisting with the reduction of operating costs
Finding the 'best' solution to existing challenges
Investigating, identifying and implementing improvements to help deliver quality, legal, statutory and business targets
Investigating and proposing capital solutions to maintain security and reliability of processes, helping improve their efficiency
Providing technical expertise to support the O&M of CHP and SRP
Identifying and supporting the enhancement and performance improvement of the CHP/SRP assets as well as resources for the water recycling business
Utilising a wide range of source knowledge and information to find the best solutions to existing and future challenges e.g., Literature, other companies, experts, information technology, other departments.
What does it take to be a Steam Raising Plant Technical Engineer?
Steam Raising/Boiler Plant experience is essential
BOAS qualification would desirable
Knowledge of Boiler Water Treatment would be advantageous
Experience of planned preventative maintenance ideally
NVQ Level 2/3 in either a mechanical or electrical discipline
Operational and maintenance experience in CHP, SRP or a similar engineering background
Technical competence and experience with problem solving
Experience and a strong awareness of Health and Safety as well as Environmental legislation
Decisive and resourceful thinker
Someone who is happy working autonomously, often required to use their own initiative
Strong communication skills
Competent user of IT
Flexible approach to work- this role can be very hands on at times also there is the potential for out of hours management standby
Full driving license is essential for this role
