We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated trained nurse who would like to join the St Mark's Outpatients Team, located in Central Middlesex Hospital. We are a national referral centre that specialises in intestinal and colorectal disorders.
The role of the Staff Nurse in outpatients includes the day to day management of the department, assisting the Consultants and Nurse Specialists to provide great care. Undertaking complex dressings, fistula and stoma management, assist with the pre-assessment service, phlebotomy and assisting with the training and supervision of the junior staff within the department.
You should have up to date current professional registration. Also excellent written/ verbal communication skills and of course be interested in caring for people with colorectal diseases.
The department is open from 0800 until 1800 Monday to Friday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate with patients and relatives in a relevant, sensitive and appropriate manner
- Communicate any relevant changes he/she observes in patients condition to the relevant doctor or independent practitioner in the clinic.
- Be able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and be able to adhere to them.
- To ensure appropriate information is available in the department for patients and visitors in relation to health promotion.
- Actively participate with the pre assessment process for patients undergoing colorectal surgery
- Assist doctor or independent practitioner with outpatient procedures such as; drainage of abscess, banding of haemorrhoids.
- Assist patients with stoma care and complex wounds where needed.
- Post holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and health service business in accordance with Trust Confidentiality Policy and the Data Protection Act.
