Station Assistants are the face of Merseyrail and therefore play a vital part in the success of the business. Working within the stations function you gain experience as we touch every part of the business therefore providing a good grounding as to how Merseyrail work as a business and insight into our customer base.
A very diverse role, every hour/day provides new challenges therefore we require individuals who can apply themselves, deliver excellent customer service and think on their feet.
Successful candidates may be located at any of our Underground stations including Liverpool Central/Moorfields/James Street/Lime Street Lower Level/Liverpool South Parkway/Southport.

- Day to day responsibility for the cleanliness of all aspects of the station
- Confidence and ability to deliver clear and concise announcements
- Dealing with members of the public on a daily basis
- Good knowledge of the Merseyrail network
- Work a shift pattern which includes booking on prior to and after the commencement of service and cover 7 days per week, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
- Stand for long periods of time, undertake tasks involving manual handling and cleaning duties.
- Demonstrate ownership and pride in our stations whilst on duty and adhere to Merseyrail’s Rules & Regulations.

Please note:
These are fulltime (35 hours) permanent roles, working various shifts including weekends and Bank holidays.
The salary is £21,642 for up to 4 weeks training and following completion of training the salary will increase to £25,535 per annum.
This role requires you to start before and after our trains start running so you must be able to make your own way to and from work.
You must be available to attend a recruitment session on Wednesday 22nd May with a proposed start date of Monday 8th July 2024.

Successful candidates will be required to attend an assessment day this will include a written exam, group activities and 1-2-1 interview. There is a requirement to have the relevant standard GCSE’s or equivalent. You will require a basic knowledge of the Merseyrail network and the company.
As part of the recruitment process, you will also be required to undergo a pre-employment medical which includes a Drugs & Alcohol test.
