Compton Care provides free care and support for people living with incurable illnesses and their families.
We support families to navigate every aspect of life with an incurable condition, including:
the physical – helping patients deal with the physical changes brought about by their illness helping with symptom control and pain management.- the practical – supporting families to manage practical aspects including as finances, housing, legal matters and making future care plans.
- the emotional & spiritual – providing a safe space for families to express their thoughts, feelings and emotions throughout the duration of a person’s illness and after death.
Care is tailored to each person and focuses on providing families with the tools, encouragement and support they need to live a good quality life.
It costs over £12 million every year to provide services free of charge to families across Wolverhampton, the Black Country, South Staffordshire and East Shropshire. Compton receives approximately one third of this funding from the government with the rest sourced through various income generation activities including charity shops, fundraising events, a Compton lottery and various other appeals and campaigns.
We are currently looking for an experienced Stock Collector, to work 15 hours per week in our Retail Support team to aid in logistical support for our stores. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high standards of customer service and aspire to be an ambassador for Compton Care in the local retail community.
Main duties
- To support the stores and warehouse with daily collections, deliveries and stock generation activity.
- To maximise Gift Aid sign ups and contributions.
- Carry out all tasks in accordance with H&S procedures and follow safe lifting and loading practices.
- To provide support at events for retail and Fund Raising as required.
- Build and maintain a positive working relationship with all internal and external contacts.
- To be an ambassador for Compton Hospice in the local communities, promoting services and the importance of charity shops to generate income for the organisation
Essential qualifications and experience
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Must have a full clean UK driver’s licence
- Ability to work flexibly to suit business needs
- Previous experience of having worked as a driver in a similar multi-site role
- Experience of multi drop driving
- A good working knowledge of Health & Safety procedures in a similar role
- Demonstrates an understanding of effective team leadership
