Stores and Logistics Technician
The Company
PowerPhotonic has an exciting new opportunity for a Stores and Logistics Assistant based in Dalgety Bay, Fife. This position has been created during an exciting period of growth for the company.
PowerPhotonic is a global leader in the design and manufacture of precision micro-optics for laser systems used in the high energy scientific, defense, materials processing, medical, and optical communications sectors. PowerPhotonic was founded with the objective of achieving excellence in all aspects of the realization of micro-optic products for the most challenging laser applications.
The Role
The purpose of the role is to provide tactical resource for the receipt of goods, administration of inbound and outbound logistics, providing accurate, timely stock control and monitor usage for replenishment and support on time delivery of part to customers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Key areas of responsibility comprise:
- Goods received and documentation check, book into stock all goods received, highlighting missed deliveries, short deliveries or errors
- Arrange outbound logistics of both WIP and FG ensuring accurate paperwork
- Final packaging and preparation of good for shipment
- Responsible for the organization of the warehouse areas ensuring safe and suitable storage of inventory
- Ensure stock levels are maintained and accurate, performing regular cycle counts to schedule and discrepancies investigated
- Ensure accurate data entry into ERP system
- When required, raise Purchase Orders/Requisitions for inventory and non-inventory procurement
- Kit production orders according to the daily production plan
- Rigorously enforce FIFO for inventory management
- Work with the team to develop and continuously improve warehouse and inventory management
Other duties will include:
- Any other activities as may reasonably be required by the line manager from time to time
Required qualifications and experience
Essential requirements:
- Intermediate to advanced level of computer skills, comfortable with MS Excel, Words, etc.
- Confident entering data and actioning transactions through an ERP system
- Able to use their initiative with a proactive approach to solve problems
- Attentive to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent numeracy
Desirable requirements:
- Knowledge of Microsoft NAV (ERP System)
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of office administration or stores, inventory management and stock control systems
- Understanding of export and custom controls

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Office/Warehouse environment, some light manual lifting will be required each day. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This is part time role, approximately 20 - 25 hours per week, 10am – 3pm TBC. Exact hours are negotiable.
There may be occasional travel to customer site.
