Purpose of the role
Colas Ltd have a fantastic opportunity for a Stores Assistant to join the team based at our Portsmouth Depot (P06 1TA). You will be responsible for assisting internal operations teams with purchases, provide stock guidance and support, as well as maintain the store and yard's overall appearance. This will support local operations team in delivery of required services as part of the Portsmouth Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project held with Portsmouth City Council.
Main Responsibilities
As a Stores Assistant you will be required to:
- Identify opportunities for improvement in store and yard management
- Development and digitisation of goods requisition processes
- Ensuring store and yard area is maintained to health and safety requirements
- Greet internal operations team and provide stock information
- Assist internal operations team with purchases and returns
- Receiving and verifying the quality and quantity of new shipments
- Inventory management and stocking shelves
- Organise and distribute small tools and equipment
- Maintain store and yard cleanliness and organisation
- Maintain electronic stock control management system
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years experience working within a similar role in a stores environment. A telehandler licence would be advantageous in this role. You will have excellent organisation skills and attention to detail. A good understanding of stores processes is essential. You will need to have strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
