Job Title: Stores Stock Controller
Location: Gloucester Factory
JOB PURPOSE
The engineering Stores Stock Controller will be responsible for daily stores activities. Specifically:
- Assist with the safe and efficient management of engineering stores
- All associated paperwork with goods inwards & out.
- System transactions associated with receipts, refusals, dispatches & service exchange items.
- Safety of all users & visitors to stores.
- Assist with the purchase of Ad Hoc items to support engineering activities
- System transactions related to goods issues.
- Maintaining the accuracy of stores system information, database, inventory & locations
- Conduct periodic Stock checks, inventory level updates.
- Adhering to business controls & site safety policy
- Maintain adequate stock levels to support the engineering function
- Ad Hoc tasks as requested by the Stores Supervisor as required
- Controlled storage of Intervention activity spares
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical / Functional
- Ensure correct transactions are completed and recorded correctly.
- Carry out stock checks on a rotational basis to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Booking in/ out of goods and spares as required.
- Provide support on purchasing and stock control systems.
- Ensure levels of stock are appropriately managed within the engineering function.
- Develop knowledge and experience of Stores systems to provide cover for Stores Supervisor as required.
Safety
- Ensure that the stores and associated storage equipment and mechanical handling and access equipment is used safely and correctly at all times.
Quality
- Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming products and materials and ensure they are correct and meet quality standards
- Store products and materials in designated locations in an organized and secure manner
- Maintain accurate inventory records and regularly update stock levels
- Monitor inventory levels and perform regular stock takes to maintain accurate records
- Ensure timely reordering of engineering components and consumables to maintain adequate stock levels
- Organise overhaul spares into designated storage area(s)
Operational Activities :
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to manage product deliveries and returns
- Complete Cost control and cost reduction projects and record results
- Repair of service exchange items
- Management of bonded stock/ Intervention Spares
- Continuous Improvement on the efficiency of the Stores area and function
ALL ABOUT YOU
Experience Required:
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Stores Operative or in a similar role within an Engineering discipline
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of Engineering components and materials
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to operate a forklift and mechanical handling devices (or willingness to learn)
- Comfortable with navigating inventory management software (training on specific software provided)
- Good level of computer literacy with MS Office Products (XL, Word, Access etc)
Other Requirements:
- FLT License (training can be provided)
- Ability to lift/ move goods (safely)

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money.In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
