Strategic Test Manager, QA & Capability Lead, Automation Testing, Mainly Remote

We need a Strategic Test Manager - not a Team Leader, a Manager. We also need you to know the specifics around testing, (things like understanding of Agile, Automation Testing, knowledge of Test Gateways / Use of JIRA for test management etc. Also, any exposure or knowledge to Azure DevOps would be a bonus as this is what they will be transitioning into.
Typically this role will involve identifying the correct approach for testing based on the initiative, planning, documentation, resource coordination, monitoring/reporting progress, escalation of conflicts/issues to the relevant party and coordinating the appropriate sign-off and closure. The role involves managing and motivating staff within the team.
You will be managing circa 12 people in a growing team and we need someone to have operated at this level. It is ESSENTIAL for you to have this level of experience. With it being strategic, we want someone with solid, proven leadership experience, along with having the ability to map out the future of the test function, using (and having exposure to) the likes of Agile and Waterfall as methodologies. Experience required:
- Knowledge of all aspects of Software Development Process
- Demonstrable experience of working in a test environment
- Experience of the full Test Process, covering Test Planning, Test Implementation & Execution and Test Closure
- Knowledge of various types of Testing i.e. Functional, Non-Functional, Regression; and various levels of Testing i.e. Component, Integration, System and Acceptance
- Experience in variety of testing techniques and tools (such as Quality Centre, JIRA, Bugzilla etc)
- Good organisational skills and able to work under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to convey ideas and conclusions in an easily accessible form to clients, third party providers and senior sponsors
Have run a team of over 12 people
Completed annual reviews and employee performance material
Heavily involved with recruitment of permanent staff and FTCs
Defining resources needed from a high level scope
Make recommendations for areas of improvement
