Structural Engineer

Akton are recruiting on behalf of a client who is looking for an experienced Structural Project Engineers to join their Chorley Office. Ideally the candidate would have a minimum of three years' experience of Structural design within residential and commercial buildings.

The role will involve mentoring less experienced members of the team, as well as your own skills to meet the needs and demands of clients and business goals. Each engineer has a number of projects and clients at any one time to manage. You will be expected to support the Principal engineers and Directors across the group. Quality deliverables and client satisfaction are at the forefront of the everyday responsibilities to ensure conformance to the accredited processes and procedures as recognised within the industry. Candidates must be able to demonstrate good fundamental knowledge and understanding within the application and principles of Structural Engineering design.

Experience

Essential

• Minimum three years' experience within Structural design including steelwork, reinforced concrete and masonry construction to Euro Code standard
• Proficient use of AutoCAD, Masterseries and TEDDS design software
• Producing detailed structural calculations and sketches
• Preparation of construction drawings and specifications
• Commercial awareness of costing, budgets and quotations
• Report writing
• Site visits to verify construction complies with construction drawings

Desirable

• Understanding of STAAD.Pro, SCIA and Revit
• Project management and leadership skills
• Willing to work towards or nearing Chartered Status
