Pay Rate: £19 - £20.60 per hour

Hours: Full-time. Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 16:30pm with a 1-hour break.

Main Duties of theStudent and Family Education Worker:

  • Provide individual and group mentoring sessions for students facing challenges related to interpersonal relationships, emotion management, anxiety, behaviour issues, grief, self-harm, abuse, and Family conflicts. The objective is to foster positive changes in attitudes, skills, behaviour, knowledge, and awareness, ultimately enhancing students' well-being and strengthening their connection to school for improved learning outcomes.
  • Facilitate mediation sessions between students to resolve conflicts amicably and promote harmony within the school community.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, collaborating to address student concerns and support their holistic development.
  • Guide students in recognising and addressing unhelpful behaviour patterns, empowering them to make positive choices.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and external agencies to develop effective strategies tailored to meet students' needs and maximise their potential.
  • Assist students in identifying and implementing appropriate courses of action to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth.
  • Refer students to external support services as needed, following up on referrals and monitoring progress.
  • Document student progress and interventions used in counselling, preparing reports for agencies such as CAMHS and Social Services.
  • Collaborate with external agencies when necessary, ensuring holistic support for students.
  • Coordinate student referrals to organisations like the Youth Offending Service (YOS) and Common Assessment Framework (CAF) as required.
  • Attend meetings both within and outside of school, including case conferences and professional gatherings, to advocate for students' needs and provide input on their behalf.
  • Conduct home visits when deemed necessary to better understand students' environments and support their well-being.
  • Provide support to staff members in conflict resolution, anger management, and organising peer support initiatives tailored to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Applicant Requirements of the Student and Family Education Worker:

  • Possession of GCSE English and mathematics or equivalent at level 2.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Verification of eligibility to work and reside in the UK, along with current DBS check and two references.
  • Possession of a clean UK driving license, enabling independent commuting to and from work.
