Student Placement - Energy And Sustainability (1 Year Ftc)

Are you a Chemistry or Chemical Engineering student who is passionate about Energy and Sustainability and looking for an amazing placement year opportunity?

At Saint Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS) we are looking for student to work at our British Gypsum Plant at East Leake, helping to deliver our Energy and Sustainability activities.

This Student Placement role will be report in to the Energy Champion and will work in the Performance Team alongside our engineers. You'll interact with a wide range of people and will truly be made to feel part of the team. Our students add considerable value to our business, the projects you'll work on and the accounting activities you'll be responsible for are hugely important and without you we wouldn't be able to achieve these tasks so efficiently.

British Gypsum is part of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS). Much of Britain has been built with British gypsum. Gypsum is the vital raw material at the heart of our plaster and plasterboard, and much of it is mined, milled and made in Britain. We have been mining gypsum for more than 150 years, a heritage we're very proud of.

What we're looking for:

• Currently enrolled on a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry degree with a year in industry/placement year
• Ideally have studied or chosen modules in Energy and/or sustainability and passionate about these areas
• Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoys being part of a team
• Confidence to speak to people at all levels of the business and challenge constructively
• Attention to detail with excellent data analytical skills

What you will be doing:

• Lead and assist in projects to reduce energy consumption across site and deliver our sustainability agenda
• Perform activities such as Heat and Mass balances, combustion analyses and energy heat maps
• Responsible for the monthly energy accounting
• Work collaboratively with wider team and operations
