The Opportunity
Talbot Rice Gallery is seeking two Front of House Assistants (fixed-term) who are passionate about the visual arts to join our team. The Front of House Assistants are the first point of contact for public and professional visitors to the Gallery and provides general secretarial and administrative support for the gallery team. During the Gallery’s public opening times and events, the role includes staffing the reception desk, Front of House invigilation, hospitality and customer service duties, working closely with a small team of volunteers.
The working hours are usually Tuesday – Saturday 9am-5pm, and in the Festival month of August, the working schedule is adjusted to five days a week, including both Saturday and Sunday.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Work experience or internship in a customer facing position, with demonstrable ability to deal with visitors and contacts in a professional, helpful and welcoming manner.
- Ability to speak confidently and communicate enthusiasm for contemporary art to members of the public across various knowledge levels, and to mentor others.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Skills in organising, prioritising tasks and planning ahead.
- Excellent written and numeracy skills.
