We are a vibrant and caring community co-located within a learning campus. We are in search of Support Assistants to join our friendly and dedicated team. Our children need Support Assistants with warm smiles, a nurturing persona, someone with a sense of humour, who’s really good at listening and understands that our journeys are a bit different and that’s great! This position is for an MDSA who has a bit extra. Many of our pupils need intimate care support and we are looking to create a small, efficient and collaborative team to provide effective lunchtime support with added intimate care, ensuring our pupils are taken good care of over the lunchtime period. Your Role As a Support Assistant the attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to): To be responsible for the supervision of all pupil behaviour during the lunch break, in the playground, or other areas of the school To be responsible for the pupil’s care as necessary, depending on Key Stage e.g. taking them to the toilet, changing nappies, providing comfort, dealing with accidents, being alert to signs that a pupil is unwell or distressed To assist pupils to eat their meals, this may include feeding individual pupils. To assist in the setting up and removing of furniture for lunch time in any area of the school where necessary To give minor first aid to pupils, including the cleaning of and dressing of wounds if necessary Your Experience Our person specification attached will contain the full details, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include: A basic level of literacy and numeracy Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team An understanding of food hygiene and Health & Safety Willingness to help children with intimate care with an understanding and sensitivity to pupil’s privacy Flexibility and ability to rise to any challenge with a smile Hours: 17.5 hours per week (Mon – Fri 11am – 2.30pm)Interview Date: 23.04.24Training: It is important to us to ensure you feel valued and supported in this exciting, rewarding and important role that you undertake therefore, relative training will be provided to the appointed applicant upon starting.
