I am a young man with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, which affects my movement and speech. I am looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to work as part of my support team
Shift patterns are very flexible, which could include evenings, weekends and night shifts as well as weekends and holidays away.
About me
I live in my own self contained apartment within the family home which is adapted for my needs. I am active, sociable, and have many interests and hobbies.
My main interest is boccia which is a wheelchair sport and I am a member of the England training squad. I train at a local sports centre throughout the week and this also takes me on weekends away for training and competitions and is an opportunity for you to get involved in the sport along with me and my existing team. I also enjoy going to the gym, theatre and cinema and I am a member of a local pub quiz team. I have a degree in Film and Media which is my other main interest.
Your Role
You will work as part of a team providing support following a specific care/support plan, ensuring both your and my welfare and safety at all times. supporting me on a day to day basis, to maximise my independence, both at home and in the community so that I can live my life to the full. A large part of the role will be supporting me whilst out and about as well as personal care at home, preparing meals, shopping, and light housework. I have a large adapted vehicle to transport me with my power wheelchair so you must be a confident driver . A Full clean driving licence is essential.
About you:
Essential
· you have a full clean UK driving licence
· you are friendly and approachable
· you are flexible and keen to develop yourself
· you are reliable and professional - you value honesty and discretion
. you must be confident and able to use own initiative
· Full CRB check will be required before job commencement
Preferred
· you have experience of supporting someone with cerebral palsy though this is not essential as full training will be given. Having a positive, can-do attitude and friendly personality is much more important.
-you have an interest in sport - though not essential more important to a willingness to learn
