  • Here at Southfork, we are mature ladies with lots of life experiences.  

  • Our needs are vast and complex, but things we have in common are we use wheelchairs and are nonverbal.  

  • We communicate in our own unique ways, using eye contact, hand gestures and facial expressions to ensure our needs are met. 

  • We rely heavily on our Support Workers to give us our best lives possible and they achieve this in lots of different ways 

 

What is important to us 

  • We enjoy therapies which our support workers deliver, such as aromatherapy, massage therapy and musical therapy.  

  • We enjoy getting out in the community and are sociable with members of the pubic. 

  • We love going on shopping trips to the Metro Centre and Newcastle city centre where we can browse the aisles and window shop.  

  • We especially enjoy going to the theatre. 

  • Our home is a relaxed environment to be in and we have great relationships with our staff, and this is something which is important to us as they are the only family we have.  

  • We enjoy the company of others who have a good sense of humour, our home is filled with laughter. We like people who are caring in nature and are patient.  

 
Where we Live
  • Southfork is a three-bedroom Bungalow with shared spaces we can all enjoy together.  

  • We have a very picturesque back garden which is accessible to us at all times, and we enjoy sitting in the dining room watching the birds play in the garden.  

  • We have an adopted Cat who we feed and pet outside our bungalow 

  • Southfork is located in a cul-de-sac and we have had the same neighbours for a number of years who are all aware of our needs. Our neighbours are compassionate and kind to us.   

  • There is a drive at the front of our home and off-street parking.

 

Other information 

  • Southfork requires two support workers to be on shift at any given time.  

  • Support Workers will work from 8am to 10pm, we also have a sleepover shift which all staff cover.  

  • Support Workers joining the team here at Southfork must be experienced in supporting with complex needs or be keen to learnOne of us is PEG fed and all staff are trained to deliver this support, not only that, but they are also trained to ensure new colleagues become confident in this area too.  

  • Support workers at Southfork are all competent in correct manual handling and medication administration, this training will be provided on site and delivered by your colleagues.
