Mission Statement - Our Purpose
We will provide young people with the best preparation for adult life. We will provide high-quality accommodation and support to ensure young people develop life skills to manage their money, home, and relationships. We will support young people in education and training to prepare them for work. We will plan and deliver our services to safeguard young people, be better at how we work and achieve excellence in our outcomes.
Supporting Young Futures (SYF) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Our recruitment process aims to create and maintain a safe workforce with robust vetting procedures for safer recruitment. The suitable applicant will be appointed subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS, proof of identity and eligibility to work in the UK.
Our semi-independent homes support up to 6 young people in each location. The service is staffed 24 hours a day by a team of Youth Support/Key Workers and Night Support Workers. Youth Support Workers will provide support to young people in order to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of each young person and to allow them to eventually move on to independent living. They will work with young people to promote social inclusion and independent living, encouraging young people to maximise their skills.
Our work is based on building relationships with our young people and working in a person-focused way to meet their individual needs. Young people we support are at the heart of everything we do - they are special and unique and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
We recognise that Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children have very specific cultural and language needs and additional support may be required.
Our organisation has successfully supported many unaccompanied asylum-seeking children including children from Vietnam, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Albania, Afghanistan, Iraq, Eritrea and Iran.
We are, therefore, looking to find workers who are passionate and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people every time they come to work. We are looking for workers who share our values and attitudes to working with young people. Workers who are self-motivated and model positive behaviour.
