Our team support people across Temporary Accommodation and traveller sites. We are looking for a Support Worker who will work with our customers living on the 3 traveller sites we manage, as well as offering some support to gyspsies and travellers on the roadside or living in bricks and mortar. This role will include a significant amount of time on sites, and will not be working with customers living in Temporary Accommodation.
Your role as a Support Worker will include:
- Helping customers to identify their own support needs, and to identify and work towards goals
- Managing rent accounts and any rent arrears
- Assisting customers to gain essential skills such as cooking, budgeting, IT literacy
- Maintaining accurate records and customer files
- Assisting customers with benefits claims
- Responding to and managing any incidents on site
- Managing pitch and overall site condition including litter, health and safety issues and repairs.
- Helping customers to access services such as health, education, or employment support.
- Understanding and working sensitively in relation to relationships and dynamics on traveller sites.
- Understanding and working sensitively with cultural issues.
This is a challenging and rewarding role which includes building relationships with customers over a long-term period. Customers may be experiencing multiple and complex issues. The post holder will need to be alert to cultural issues and relationship dynamics on site.
There will be many opportunities in this role to help shape and improve the service we offer to people living on the 3 traveller sites we manage, and this will be an exciting and varied role for the right candidate.
This role will be primarily Mon-Fri within normal business hours, with only occasional out of hours working for events.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
The duties of this post require the postholder to undertake a basic Criminal Record check (unspent convictions only) via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
