What will the successful candidate be doing:
Our working environment is fast and dynamic, and the successful candidate will need to operate within a complex business with multiple stakeholders, having the ability to build collaborative internal and external stakeholders’ relationships to coordinate and facilitate integration of Sellafield Ltd’s sustainability principles across its business ecosystem, supporting interaction with the right tools and systems.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Sustainability & Supply Chain Development, the Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for managing, coordinating, facilitating the development, implementation, monitoring and improvement of policies, and initiatives that promote Sellafield Ltd’s environmental, energy, economic, and social sustainability both internally and externally.
The role requires travelling within the UK, to support engagement and integration of sustainability across Sellafield Ltd’s business ecosystem (indicatively and non-exhaustive list include: supply chain events, sustainability events, conferences, etc). Occasionally, travelling abroad might be required (ie UN COPxx).
Responsibilities include:
- Develops, administers, and regularly updates the Sellafield Ltd’s sustainability plans, roadmap, initiatives, programs and promoting integration and engagement among internal and external stakeholders.
- Assists the Head of Corporate Sustainability, the Sustainability Integration Manager or other designated sustainability team members on defining goals, performance metrics and long-range action plan for implementing sustainability programs and policies.
- Working closely with the Sustainability Integration Manager, facilitates collaboration of interdepartmental teams and working groups on sustainability initiatives and programs.
- Serves as Sellafield’s main point of contact on sustainability issues with internal and external stakeholders, engaging the right people to communicate and resolve matters as needed.
- Promotes and communicates sustainability initiatives with Sellafield employees, the NDA Group and its Operating Companies.
- Supporting the Head of Corporate Sustainability, communicates sustainability goals and progress to the internally, and across the NDA Group and its Operating Companies, as needed.
- Assists with special sustainability events, and programs to promote and educate stakeholders about sustainability matters.
- Develops and coordinates the sustainability portal and considers additional tools that can support engagement and integration of sustainability across Sellafield’s business ecosystem.
- Performs other relevant sustainability duties as assigned.
- Provides support to the Head of Corporate Sustainability, and, indicatively, engages with the Environment, Social Impact, Supply Chain, Sustainability Steering and Working Groups for the purposes of coordination of sustainability actions.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing with different Sellafield’s stakeholders.
- Works cooperatively with all employees toward the common goal of integrating sustainability across Sellafield Ltd’s business ecosystem.
- Exhibits behaviour consistent with the mission, vision and values of Sellafield Ltd.
- Engages in and supports the activation of the Sellafield Ltd’s sustainability engagement plan and the corporate sustainability targets.
- Participates in development and mentoring of co-workers and partners to achieve a cohesive sustainability understanding, aligned with the Sellafield Ltd’s sustainability engagement and integration plan.
- Effectively manages multiple assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfilment of projects, tasks, responsibilities, and goals.
- Exhibits initiative, timeliness, and completeness of gathering and assessing information to act accordingly, recognising opportunities and risks, communicating, or escalating as needed.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Degree or equivalent experience within Sustainability, Business or relevant, or any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may qualify
- Professional experience in the sustainability field being associated with both socio-economic and environmental practices
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Exhibits excellent interpersonal and human relationship skills
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
- Highly self-motivated and directed with a proactive approach
