Switchboard Operator

Job Title: Switchboard Operator

Location: Stepping Hill Hospital

Hours: Part time (evenings – 5pm to 10pm)

Trust Location: Stockport

What you’ll be responsible for:

Answering the switchboard

Directing bleep calls

Answering emergency calls and putting out alerts to various teams.

Checking and managing all fire panels, lift panels and medical gas panels.

Booking taxis.

Populating on call rota.

You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

• An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS and switchboard services
• Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
• A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You’ll have the following skills/experience:

• Excellent communication skills
• The ability to work alone or as part of a team
• The ability to remain calm while talking to callers under various different circumstances
• A willingness to complete a three month training period with the opportunity for further shifts following that period
• Be able to work evening shifts to cover the hours of service as required
