Role: People Partnering and Wellbeing Assistant

South Yorkshire Police is currently looking to recruit a People Assistant to work within the People and Organisational Development Department.
Role Purpose:
This role sits in the advisory team within the PPW function and is essential to providing first line advice to employees and managers across the organisation. You will provide an excellent customer service whilst ensuring that our advice reflects an empowering ethos and risk-based approach. You will think of the wider picture and Force’s overall plan on a page tailor your advice to ensure that all possibilities and options have been considered. You will process People transactional services from start to finish and ensure that they are completed accurately and timely whilst keeping customers up to date.
Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will be familiar with working in a multi-site organisation and building stakeholder relationships across large organisations. You will:
- Provide first line advice and guidance to line managers and staff in relation to employee relations queries.
- Manage the full and half sickness absence pay processing.
- Develop and produce reports for the People Partnering team with assistance from POD business analysts.
- Perform transactional services such as maternity leave, career break and PSD investigation queries etc.
- Drafting letters such as grievance, change, absence, capability and offer of employment and contracts.
- Ensure people information systems are accurately maintained.
- Engage with wider force and conducting face to face visits with managers.
- Develop and maintain letter templates and guidance for policies.
- Diary management of the People Partnering team.
The role will work on an agile approach, being able to work effectively both virtually and with colleagues across our sites. The position will be Force wide covering areas across South Yorkshire therefore individuals must be flexible and be able to travel across sites as required.

Skills and experience:
The successful candidate will therefore have previous experience of working in a generalist HR function and will be educated to CIPD level 3 or hold an equivalent qualification. The individual will have the ability to use their own initiative and have an understanding of the importance of a customer centric approach.
Knowledge of basic employment law, how to apply it and ability to demonstrate it via the application is required.
