Job description

Base pay: £45k

Individual Contributor 3 level as per our Career Development Framework.

EMI Share Options: £10,000

We've calculated this compensation in line with our Benchmarking Philosophy.

Opportunity for a Talent Manager to join a high-growth technology start-up focused on eliminating fuel poverty and improving living standards in social housing through data insights.

Reporting to: Head of People

Location: This is a remote-first role with compulsory attendance of Quarterly Company Offsite days.

Our mission

At Switchee, we believe that everyone deserves to live in a decent home and that the environments we inhabit have a massive influence on our ability to enjoy life and prosper.

One in five households in the UK live in social housing, a sector with the right values at its core but that has historically struggled to deploy innovations in the home. Many residents still can’t afford to heat their homes, and live in cold, mouldy properties they can’t be proud of.

We believe that radical innovation in internet-connected technology can ensure that every resident, every day, is living in a home that allows them to succeed. That’s why our products are built not just on great technology, but on an understanding of what people want from the space they live in.

This approach led us to reimagine the most mundane household object: the thermostat, into a product that automatically reduces energy bills, looks great, and offers control to those who want it. We are also revolutionising the way social landlords manage their housing stock with an obsessively tailored SaaS property dashboard and handy alerts on things like when the boiler is going to break.

Our goal is to perfect the ultimate connected hub for the social home. It’s going to revolutionise the way residents interact with their homes and landlords manage their properties.

Your responsibilities

As a Talent Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, acquiring, developing, and retaining talented individuals within our organisation. Your primary goal will be to ensure that our company attracts and retains the best possible talent to drive organisational success and growth. You will collaborate closely with hiring managers, department heads, and the People team to create and implement effective talent management strategies.

The Role

  • Talent Acquisition:

Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their talent needs and develop recruitment strategies to attract top-tier candidates.

Utilize various sourcing methods, including job boards, social media, networking events, and employee referrals, to build a strong talent pipeline.

Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and evaluate candidates to ensure they align with the company's culture, values, and job requirements.

Manage the entire recruitment process from initial contact to offer negotiation and onboarding.

  • Talent Development:

Implement learning and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of existing employees.

Identify high-potential individuals and create personalised development plans to nurture their growth within the organisation.

Provide coaching and mentoring to employees to support their career progression and performance improvement.

Monitor employee engagement and satisfaction levels to identify areas for improvement and implement retention strategies.

  • Performance Management:

Develop and implement performance management systems to evaluate employee performance and provide constructive feedback.

Conduct regular performance reviews with managers to collect performance date across the business. Identify underperforming employees and work with relevant stakeholders to develop performance improvement plans or initiate performance development plans when necessary.

  • Succession Planning:

Identify key positions within the organisation and develop succession plans to ensure continuity and smooth transitions into leadership roles and relevant support provided to aspiring managers.

Assess the readiness and potential of internal candidates for future leadership positions and provide them with development opportunities accordingly.

Work with senior management to identify external talent for critical roles and build relationships with potential candidates.

  • HR Strategy and Compliance:

Stay updated on labour laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.

Collaborate with the People department to develop and implement policies, procedures, and initiatives that support talent management objectives.

Analyse data and metrics related to talent acquisition, development, and retention to measure the effectiveness of talent management initiatives and make data-driven decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field. Alternatively, proven track record of working as a Talent Manager in the past.

  • Proven experience in talent management, recruitment, and employee development in a similar role.

  • Strong understanding of HR practices, employment laws, and industry trends.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems), ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) and other relevant software applications.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate future talent needs and develop proactive solutions.

  • Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and optimisation of talent management processes.

  • Empathetic and approachable demeanour with a genuine interest in supporting employee growth and development.

  • Results-oriented mindset with a track record of achieving measurable outcomes in talent management initiatives.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in talent acquisition and development practices.

We are a company built on a strong technical foundation, however, we deliver ‘business’ value. You’ll need to be able to grasp and communicate the business value of a technology-driven solution with candidates to inspire them to become a part of the journey. We also expect you to work collaboratively across all departments and teams to ensure our employer value proposition evolves with the employees’ needs at the very centre.

  • We have a remote-first Hybrid Working Model, with offices near London Bridge.
