About the role:
Are you a motivated individual, looking for your next step, working within a progressive, flexible company that is one of the region s largest independent accounting firms?
This opportunity would be based within the small, friendly tax team in Durham where training and encouragement will be given. My client s tax team is involved in the delivery of tax compliance and advisory services for a portfolio of some of the most wealthy and exciting entrepreneurial businesses across our region.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Prepare income, P11D, and corporation tax returns from a variety of systems including CCH, Iris, and Taxshield
- Prepare dividend paperwork.
- Prepare small rental and sole trader accounts.
- Research basic tax planning issues
- Action queries raised by colleagues on the draft tax returns and computations.
- Act as a point of contact for clients and colleagues for ad hoc queries
- Liaise with HM Revenue & Customs on a variety of matters including PAYE coding notices and tax refunds.
- Preparation of corporation tax reminder letters for review
- Assisting in the on boarding of new clients including registration with HM Revenue & Customs
About You
- ATT qualified or part qualified.
- Recent general practice background, with exposure to accounts, audit, and/or tax.
- Be willing to learn and have the enthusiasm to pursue a career in tax.
- Have excellent communication skills and be confident speaking to clients face to face, over the telephone, and by email.
- Must have excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Excel.
- The ability to check work for accuracy and have good attention to detail.
- The ability to judge differing situations and respond accordingly.
- Be able to demonstrate your initiative to solve problems.
- Be flexible and proactive in managing multiple priorities.
It would be desirable if you have 3 A Levels at grade A -C (or equivalent) experience in using tax preparation software and proven experience in delivering excellent client service.
