Supporting the Manager as part of a team on the delivery of Bush & Co Limited’s general personal tax function, you will be executing the self-assessment tax return preparation for a range of clients. The varied nature of our clients will mean that you will be constantly challenged and continually gaining valuable experience.
Main job tasks and responsibilities
- To have a reasonable understanding of taxation principles and practices to deliver an effective service to clients.
- Working with the Manager and team to ensure quality taxation services and excellent client service.
- Delivering the self-assessment tax return preparation for clients with a variety of sources of income to include investment portfolios, rental income, pensions and overseas income.
- To assist with other taxation paperwork and returns such as 60 day Capital Gains Tax returns and liaise with HM Revenue & Customs on client matters.
- To have good client relationship skills, to be able to build strong relationships and handle client queries in a positive and client-focused manor.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to other trainees within the team where necessary.
- Assist the tax team with any ad hoc work that is required.

The ideal candidate will need to:
- Be technically competent in Microsoft Office
- Have good time management skills
- Have good attention to detail
- Have good planning and organising skills
- Be able to communicate to people at all levels and demonstrate good people skills
- Be able to know when to pass matters on to another team member
- Be willing and eager to learn
- Have a minimum of 8 GCSEs at 9-5 grades (A-C), with 6 (B) or above in Maths and English Language or equivalent.
- Have A levels grades A-C where appropriate.
