Job description

About the Role We are looking for a Teacher of Functional Skills to join the Adult Education department based at Keighley College. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who will help support our students across our Adult and Community Provision. You will be joining a growing team which prides itself in having fantastic working relationships with the rest of the College, local community and industry links. You will be helping to develop our students by assisting with the teaching on the below courses; English Literacy - Functional Skills and GCSE Numeracy - Functional Skills and GCSE Digital Skills - Entry Level IT Skills ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages We are a warm and welcoming college that provides a safe environment in which everyone can learn, thrive and achieve no matter what their background. What You Will Do Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans. Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners. Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course. Be responsible for recording student progress. Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area. About You L5 Teaching Qualification  (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE) and a relevant highest level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject. Up to date subject knowledge and recent delivery in the Further Education or school sector. Previous experience of delivering teaching in relevant subject areas (PGCE teaching placements/experience would also qualify here) which demonstrates active learning and differentiated teaching styles. Experience of positively managing student progression, advice and guidance in a school or Further Education setting Experience of setting appropriate SMART targets to ensure progression of learners Ability to plan and deliver quality teaching across identified modules Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their optimum Exceptional verbal /written communication and interpersonal skills Benefits There are plenty of benefits available to our staff members, here are just a few: Annual leave entitlement - If you work full time, you'll get at least 27 days holiday plus bank holidays and up to 5 discretionary closure days at Christmas (pro rata for part time staff).
