Job description

Have you ever wanted to become a Teacher, but don't want to go to university? Or, you have a degree, but want to enhance your skills and move into a teaching career pathway without having to stay in full time education?

OFG can help! We offer an amazing Teachers of Tomorrow programme for our Teaching Assistants to develop their career and undertake an array of qualifications that can lead you into teaching, no matter what your previous education looks like!

Apply now to find out more and you can be enrolled in as little as 6 months!

Become a Teaching Assistant at our school Hillingdon Manor, part of Options Autism and start working towards yours.

  • Salary: GBP20,931.45 per annum (This salary is NOT subject to pro-rata and is the full amount before tax)
  • Hours: 38.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Contract: Term Time Only, Permanent

At Hillingdon Manor, we provide specialist education for 185 pupils, aged between 3.5 and 19. Located across two sites, our Secondary School supports around 125 students. Our students are taught in smaller class sizes and all students work towards a variety of qualifications dependent on their needs and ability.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each pupil's potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable, and understanding.

The opportunity

As a Teaching Assistant, you will connect directly with the brilliant pupils and young people we care for, helping to make sure they get the very best from their education. Each individual has a diagnosis of Autism and may have additional needs. They have so much potential, and they will rely on you to guide their learning journeys bespoke to them.

You will help prepare learning materials and run classroom activities, with plenty of hands-on experience and some supervision too. You will take responsibility for their emotional and physical needs, supporting them to develop as individuals and engage with the world.

You will face challenges and overcome them as you flourish and thrive, sharing your skills and learning from others as your career takes you as high as you always dreamed you could go.

Every day will be different, but you will have all the support you need, with lots of skills and experience to draw on along with valuable advice and guidance too.

Who we are looking for

You will be adaptable and ready to work in a variety of classroom roles, both indoors and outside according to individual need. Taking a responsive and caring approach, you may be running classroom activities, leading outdoor experiences or supervising pupils as they explore further afield.

Our schools are built on great teamwork and mutual support. If you enjoy working as part of a dedicated team, sharing knowledge, experience and learning, simply fill in our safeguarding-compliant application form and a member of our team will be in touch.

Previous experience of working with pupils and young people with Autism is highly desirable!

Why join Options Autism?

  • We are a values-driven organisation that puts people first
  • Develop great experience, skills and understanding of Autism and complex needs
  • We provide continuous professional development to take your career further
  • Funded accredited courses including Diplomas or NVQ's to develop your career
  • We build our bonds through a great social events calendar
  • Our Your Wellbeing Matters initiative provides total support
  • Our Employees Rewards Hub offers great rewards such as discount vouchers and discounted Gym Memberships

And that's not all, we place the outcomes of the pupils and vulnerable young adults in our services at the heart of everything we do, so you'll wake every day in the knowledge that your role will have a significant positive impact on the lives of others.

We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and young people. All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully enhanced DBS.
