Teaching Assistant – SEMH

Are you looking for a new role supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties?
Smile Education is working with an independent special school who are looking for caring and compassionate Teaching Assistants to add to their team. This role would involve supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs both in the classroom and around the school grounds. The school prides itself on developing a personalised curriculum, which takes full advantage of the school’s rural grounds and fantastic facilities.
- This would be a full-time role, Monday – Friday
- Immediate start
- £80 - £100 per day
- To support the classroom teacher in the delivery of lessons and the preparation of learning resources
- To support pupils with activities both on and off site
- To manage behaviour
- To liaise with teachers, the SENDCo, and outside agencies
- To keep the classroom clean and tidy and help with the upkeep of displays
- To work 1-to-1 and in small groups with children who need additional support
- To promote the welfare and wellbeing of students
- Previous experience working with students with social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Resilience and an ability to handle challenging behaviour
- An understanding of the challenges that children with social, emotional, and mental health needs may face
- Due to the location of the school, it is essential that you have access to a car
