Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri,
Hourly Rate:£11.72 - £12.53 per hour 
Actual Salary: £20,941.28 - £22,388.59 dependent on experience

Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora Fairway School in St. Ives, Cambridge is a specialist day school offering academic and therapeutic provision for students aged 11-16 with a range of complex learning needs including social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication difficulties and autism. The school opened its doors in September 2022. The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities across England.

The Role: 

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will be supporting support our children and young people with SEMH, ASD and other complex or anxiety related needs with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment. Where necessary this may include supporting with positive behaviour management adopting a tailored approach to the individual child.

Key Duties:

• Implement, and with support where necessary, adjust learning activities as agreed with the teacher. Reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers
• Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher or a more senior TA.
• Under the guidance of a more senior TA or teacher, implement learning activities and experiences, appropriate to the class group, by supporting the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning. 

Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications: 

• GCSE pass above C (or 4 in the new GCSE system) in English and Maths

Knowledge:

• Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN relevant to Provision
• Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
• Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviour that challenges.
• Experience working within education is advantageous
• Experience of working within a multi-cultural, inclusive setting
