Job description

Job DescriptionBased at Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar.
This job is workstyle 5.
You will have the opportunity to benefit from our flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from home for part of your week and spend some time in council buildings to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration.
A rare opportunity has arisen within the Planning and Sustainable Growth Service to lead the next Local Development Plan for Angus and to develop new approaches to placemaking and Development Planning in areas such as 20-minute neighbourhoods, connected communities, climate change and health and well-being.
The Team Leader will also play a crucial role in shaping and helping to implement an innovative and collaborative approach to place-based aspirations and service provision based on the needs and requirements of communities and partners in Angus and North-East Scotland.
If you care about places, design, and communities then this role may be ideal for you as we are looking for a creative, dynamic, enthusiastic individual to take forward a unique and varied position as the Team Leader - Development Planning and Projects and for the successful candidate to make this position their own.
The role is suitable for an experienced planning officer, with significant Development Planning experience, that is looking to become a Team Leader or an existing Team Leader looking for a new, varied and challenging role in an innovative Planning and Sustainable Growth Service.
You will be joining a passionate, innovative, and dynamic Development Planning, Environment, Climate Change and Creative Placemaking and Design Teams to help deliver for our communities, and also undertake ground-breaking work with young people and how they wish to be involved in the future of where they live. This role involves working in collaboration with internal and external services, stakeholders, Elected Members, and communities.
The role will also help to deliver a range of projects in conjunction with communities, partners and external funders that help to make a real difference to where our communities live and will also assist the Co-ordinator (Creative Placemaking and Urban Design) with the preparation and production of Place Frameworks within Angus which is part of our approach to place-based work and service provision.
With all the impacts of climate change, sustainability, health and well-being, inequality, sustainable growth and community empowerment, and our journey towards net zero by 2045, place based approaches are more important than ever and that involving communities in that approach and to deliver in partnership improvements to their place or neighbourhood is critical in achieving this. This Team Leader role is essential to enable all of this to progress in Angus.
