The Team Leader is a key role within the Consumer and Public Protection service that offers a high-level of autonomy. You will support the Service Manager within the Assurance directorate with the successful delivery and undertaking of tasks related to performance & financial management, health & safety responsibilities and the promotion of corporate values amongst your team.
It is essential to utilise your existing technical knowledge of Environmental Health /Health and Safety legislation to oversee workload, coordinate training programmes, produce marketing plans and investigate service requests, whilst establishing strong relationships with stakeholders to provide expert advice.

The Assurance and Public Protection directorate ensures democratic accountability of council services. The directorate work together to monitor and ensure compliance and provide assurance of Barnet being an engaged and effective council that protects the public purse. They provide enforcement services that engage and protect residents and businesses to support a safer and healthier borough.

About the role
To support the Service Manager in the comprehensive and legally robust delivery of Safety and Pest Control service. This involves overseeing, coordinating, monitoring workload, taking appropriate enforcement action, providing technical advice/guidance to the team, developing key resources including professional and technical staff. Also, the successful delivery of the relevant work programmes. To ensure that both safety responsibilities and Pest Control deployments are catered for and ensure staff complete taskings.
About you
- Successful completion of an Environmental Health degree or postgraduate MSc course, accredited by the CIEH in Environmental Health. Existing technical knowledge of Environmental Health /Health and Safety legislation and or the ability to develop technical knowledge in a specific area. Experience of taking enforcement action. Competent user of Microsoft Office specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
