We are excited to offer this permanent opportunity covering the entire area of Westmorland and Furness Council, a large and thriving organisation.
The role manages a small team which is vital in managing the Traffic Signals assets throughout Westmorland and Furness to reduce congestion and to provide safe crossing points for greatest accessibility. The role will ensure the maintenance of Traffic Signals and also provide technical advice and support to other teams within the service to monitor and improve performance of the Councils existing Traffic Signals infrastructure.
The team investigate faults, plan and organise projects with budgets to improve and replace equipment as needed liaising with suppliers and contractors. This includes carrying out activities relating to surveys, design, specification and data collection.
We are looking for a confident communicator who has some management experience to lead and motivate the team. The right candidate will provide technical input and guidance to colleagues. You will be able to work under pressure, and work to deliver improvements within the team. You will also provide advice on the application of legislation, regulation, policy and principles to both internal and external customers of the Council where appropriate. Awareness of construction contracts, traffic signal maintenance activities and national design standards is desirable but training will be given.
