Working Hours: 35 hours per week  

Contract Type: Full Time, Temporary - 2 years

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader position which is a full time role, working 35 hours per week on a 2 year time limited contract. This role will lead and manage the Payroll and pension teams to provide the full range of services to Manchester City Council employees , This role will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, HR instructions and Pension administration in line with our SLA. The role holder will liaise with and advise colleagues, managers at all levels, and customers, on the processes, regulations and legislation in relation to HR and Payroll.

This role will help review and drive forward diverse ways of working to improve the customer experience of dealing with the Payroll and pension Teams, streamlining processes, enhancing system capability, and training and developing the team.

We are looking for applicants with: 

  • An in-depth understanding and up to date knowledge of payroll and pensions, preferably in a Local Authority setting
  • The ability to work under pressure and balance conflicting workloads and priorities.  
  • The skills to work in an environment of change, and ability to switch focus depending on workload demands. 
  • Excellent, professional and clear verbal and written communication skills for working with a range of stakeholders.  
  • The ability to make effective decisions, problem solve and delegate as appropriate. 
  • Strong ICT skills, preferably in Microsoft 365 applications and experience of using and data management systems.
