As a Technical Support specialist, your role is crucial in providing support, advice and instruction on film and video technologies to students and staff. Your expertise in both production and postproduction will contribute to the seamless delivery of the student’s curriculum. Key Responsibilities:
- Per technical manager agreement, prepare, install, commission, monitor, maintain, and operate equipment, facilities, and processes, ensuring safety and optimal functionality. Troubleshoot as needed.
- As part of the tech team, issue and administer equipment/resources, ensuring daily priorities and planned operations are met. May assist/cover colleagues in other technical areas during peak times.
- Induct, supervise, and advise on tech facilities, equipment, and processes for students and staff (e.g. health and safety, legal constraints, good practice, project feasibility).
- Collaborate with programme managers and staff, offering technical guidance, creating resources and supporting curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
- Ensure that health and safety procedures and good practices in general are adhered to by all stakeholders in the area of responsibility and report to technical manager.
Qualifications for success:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or appropriate industry-equivalent experience.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of recent digital filmmaking workflows, equipment and techniques (production and postproduction).
- Good knowledge of current health and safety practices in a Film environment (e.g., COSHH, PUWER and LOLER).
- Good knowledge of software to include Adobe Creative Cloud, Premier Pro, Final Da Vinci Resolve and EditShare. Good knowledge of DIT processes.
