Technical Infrastructure Manager - London (hybrid working)
Up to £80,000 PA plus excellent benefits (industry leading pension)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and technically hands on Infrastructure Manager to join a leading public facing organisation.
This position offers the chance to oversee critical national IT infrastructure and join a dynamic IT team managing a complex and multisite IT estate.
Reporting directly to the Head of IT, you will lead a small IT team and collaborate closely with the IT Portfolio Manager to meet compliance and strategic targets.
You will be responsible for managing hardware, software, computer networks, and data centres to ensure efficient and reliable operations while maintaining compliance with company standards.
Ideally, you will also take the lead on designing, architecting and implementing significant infrastructure changes.
People management is also key for this role; they are already a well-established team however they need a strong leader to drive outcomes, it is an expected 50/50 split (50% management, 50% technically hands on).
As well as day-to-day management, there are also a number of key projects in flight including replacement of entire NetApp infrastructure, Citrix upgrade, upgrade of virtual desktop infrastructure and also a full network switch refresh.
Responsibilities:
, Oversee the strategic planning, procurement, implementation, security, and management of information technology solutions within the organisation.
, Lead the daily operations of the IT team, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools and skills to provide 24/7 support for IT outages and system failures.
, Lead on WAN provisioning projects (SDWAN, MPLS etc.).
, Drive the development and execution of the IT department's long-term strategic goals, aligning them with the company's objectives.
, Collaborate with the IT Portfolio Manager to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and strategic targets.
, Occasionally deputize for the Head of IT and act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
, Previous experience managing a technical team, ideally within a multisite/complex IT environment.
, Relevant qualifications, including ITIL foundation or equivalent.
, Knowledge of current IT industry risks and opportunities, including cloud technologies.
, Strong understanding of database, hypervisor, and firewall technologies.
, Strong understanding of domain admin services, virtual desktop (ideally Citrix), endpoint protection and management (Defender/Sophos etc.), AD user and organisation management and storage management.
, Possess excellent networking skills
, Previous management experience, preferably in a multi-stakeholder environment.
, Ideally have experience of managing vendors/telecoms providers
, Prior experience in the transportation/logistics industry is desirable but not essential.
