Purpose:
To manage the day to day running of the manufacturing site’s technical function and team ensuring that all operations and products are compliant with food safety, legal, company and customer policies, and product specifications. To be a key part of the manufacturing site Senior Leadership Team.
Support the site and company vision to be the home of operational excellence and the customer’s first choice supplier partner.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical team for your site, ensuring that Princes values are incorporated into technical team activities.
- Manage site processes and activities to ensure that products manufactured are safe, legal and conform to specification.
- To work with the Senior Technical Manager Manufacturing and Manufacturing Technical Controller in setting and implementing business strategic technical and operations plan as they apply to your site.
- Ensure that SLT members are appraised of technical requirements relevant to their areas and that appropriate management and resource is in place.
- Manage the implementation of Group and site quality and technical systems to ensure compliance with the requirements of the certification and customer technical standards.
- Support the customer technical team as required in all contact with customers and provide information and support as required to meet customer needs.
- Ensure effective incorporation and implementation of relevant Princes Group and customer requirements into the site processes and systems.
- Working with the Group Technical Services and Compliance team, ensure any local technical policies required are highlighted and effectively incorporated and implemented into the Group / Site quality system in line with legislative, customer and company requirements.
- Manage site specific KPIs to ensure deviations and trends are identified and improvements are implemented, and their effectiveness measured.
- Ensure effective oversight and governance of site food hygiene standards.
- Manage contact with local authorities as required to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Provide a technical resource to participate in quality / food safety problem investigation and problem solving within Princes Group.
- Lead the Technical Managerial support to site SLT.
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge and experience of food manufacturing across a wide range of category areas and retail customers.
- Extensive technical knowledge associated with food production, manufacturing hygiene, compliance and relevant regulatory instruments
- Experienced in leading a high performing team.
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent people management skills and experience.
- Experience in operating within a unionised working environment
- Effective IT skills with a practical knowledge of SAP
- HACCP level 4 qualified
- Lead auditor qualified
