The Role Technical Manager
Fresh People are currently looking to recruit a Technical Manager for our Fresh Produce client based in Sittingbourne / Maidstone location . This role will be very customer centric working closely with a high profile retailer you will be required to maintain an ongoing dialogue with suppliers , be managing all aspects of product quality , complaints , rejections , managing site visits , specifications , trackers and ensuring the relevant paperwork is in place.
The Person
Ideally this role would be suited to a candidate already working as a Technical Manager, or from a Quality management background with exposure to working with the retailers from Fresh Produce or FMCG.
Customer focused , used to key account management , product confident , managing all aspects of technical and quality requirements within a Fresh produce Service provision supply .
The Key Responsibilities
* Ensure an ongoing dialogue with suppliers, and the commercial team to ensure their awareness of the current supply and potential issues and communicate these as appropriate to the commercial team and customer.
* Ensure that all aspects of product quality, where customer specifications are being compromised, are effectively communicated to the Senior Leadership on a timely basis. Providing recommendations as to the action required.
* Ensure that customer complaints are trended, and action plans made for improvement.
* In the event of a rejection ensure that the customer technical department is contacted by 0830 at the very latest the following day to provide feedback and discuss next steps to prevent reoccurrences.
* Ensure that all product is used effectively and efficiently to optimize profit for the business
* Ensure Quality Contracts are complete and relevant to what is being supplied, with FIND updated with the latest version.
* Take responsibility for managing the preparation of product for benchmarking and ad hoc sample requests
* Carry out trial work as required towards delivering industry leading innovation and continual quality improvement.
* Ensure that the technical next steps from visits and contact reports are completed
* Communicate to suppliers and my clients technical team end of season reviews documenting overall quality, improvements required, ranking and next steps.
* Complete the weekly trackers for the customers and any other technical documents as required in a timely manner
* Ensure that Retailers suppliers have copies of the specifications and Ways of Working ahead of the season, for the products you are responsible for and have copies of packed at source guides ahead of packing.
* Ensure that brand images are up to date for the products you are responsible.
* Assist in building and maintaining sustainability information towards Plan A on the suppliers for your category.
* Ensure that all product is used effectively and efficiently to optimize profit for the business
* Work to support the implementation and continual development of Business Objects/ Power BI
* Ensure that all due diligence is collated, maintained and compliant for all your category in supply and ASL are produced and accurate.
* Ensure that all sites are risk assessed using the Supplier Risk Assessments and audited in accordance.
* Manage the Quality improvement plan for each product area that you are solely responsible for that ties the development plan of the business to the strategic aims of the customer.
* Successfully identify technical projects to introduce innovation to the business.
* Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Packaging teams to deliver the best new and existing product development through commercially sound reasoning.
