Would you like to get involved in supporting the delivery of services, which contribute to the sustainable development, place-making and economic growth of Dartford? We are looking for someone who has good organisation and communication skills to work within our small, friendly but very experienced and efficient Technical Team.

As a Planning Services Technical Officer, you will provide administrative and technical skills that support the delivery of good quality development whilst also protecting the environment within the Borough. You will assist with the processes required in connection with planning and building control applications and appeals, as well as the technical processes required for the production of policy documents and projects undertaken.  You will work closely with Planning and Building Control professional officers to ensure the delivery of a high quality service to all stakeholders.

The work of Planning Services has a strong procedural requirement and can be contentious and attract significant public interest and scrutiny so requires careful handling of all customers including the public, developers and elected Members.

You will have a proven track record of: providing excellent customer service; good organisational skills to ensure effective management of competing priorities; good communication skills; and be able to demonstrate experience of a variety of IT systems. An understanding of IDOX Uniform IT systems is desirable and knowledge of planning and/or building control systems would be a bonus but for the right candidate we can provide on the job training of these technical skills.

The Council offices are located in the town centre and are situated directly adjacent to Dartford Station. Good bus services, including TfL buses and the Fastrack rapid bus transit system stop outside the Civic Centre.
