Job overview:
An opportunity has arisen for a Support Engineer to join the technical team within this trust organisation, that oversee, support and improve a number of educational academies in the Surrey area.
They require a Technical Support Engineer to join the growing team here to support IT in their academies across the Trust. This will involve looking after the academy networks, install, order and maintain software and hardware in line with the Trust's guidance, and to also provide Technical Support to staff where required. It is a mixture of office work and field based support for the academies within the area so an ability to drive is required, and will be working in a hybrid environment.
Summary of Duties:
- Maintaining the academy's servers and network;
- Installing new software and upgrading existing applications across Windows, iOS and other platforms;
- Providing Technical Support for teachers and support staff at an appropriate level;
- Maintaining and developing the academy's website, and supporting/training admin staff in relation to updating the website. Ensuring the academy's website is Ofsted compliant;
- Maintaining hardware such as class computers, Interactive White Boards, iPads, laptops, photocopiers etc.;
- Arranging purchasing of software and hardware with the IT Manager and Kite Central;
- Ensuring internet systems are safe, offer full child protection and follow safeguarding guidelines;
- Working with the internet provider to ensure internet continuity of service;
- Set up new users on all systems, and reset passwords as required;
- Maintain the email systems (Office 365 experience an advantage);
- Work as part of the ICT Team to develop standard Trust processes and systems where possible across all Kite academies.
Personal Skills
- Excellent general technological knowledge - general knowledge of operating systems, networking, hardware and software;
- Knowledge of Microsoft stack, particularly O365, MS Server, InTune and SharePoint;
- VoIP systems knowledge, experience of the Horizon network an advantage;
- Good problem-solving skills;
- Good organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure;
- Good communicator;
- A patient and methodical approach;
- Excellent organisational skills;
- Good attention to detail;
- Flexibility;
- Able to deal with confidential information;
- Have an awareness of GDPR;
- An awareness of safeguarding and health and safety issues in schools.
An enhanced DBS will be required for the successful candidate.
