This structured development path is delivered alongside support from your line manager and the wider business. You will be an apprentice with us for one year and then you will be in a position to take a role within your chosen division.

NB: Assessment centres for this vacancy will be run on 21 March 2024 so please ensure you are provisionally available to attend.
As part of the role, you will study towards your Software Tester Level 4 qualification.
What you’ll be doing:
The ERP team provide system support across SJP for the ERP Head Office system. This Technical System has several functions such as Finance, Payroll, Human Resources and more. The system itself is heavily relied upon for SJP Head Office to operate and therefore the smooth running of the programme is pivotal to ensure there is limited adverse impact in the event of an issue.
You will join the development team, which is a small sub-team of 5 individuals who are responsible for ensuring that the system is easy and efficient to use. This is done by making changes where necessary and testing these to ensure that they positively contribute to the functionality. As an apprentice in the team, you will be performing these systems tests.
Your role is pivotal in supporting the successful delivery of the upgrades to the system and therefore, the continuous successful use across the business.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Executing tests on the ERP application
- Identifying key test scenarios
- Creating and amending test scripts
- Logging defects and tracking them through to completion
- Reporting test results
- Analysing test results and supporting the resolution process
- Maintaining regression test scripts to ensure they reflect recent changes
- Supporting business areas during regression testing of the biannual system upgrades.
About you
Who we’re looking for:
If you are interested in the Technical Systems Test Apprentice role, you will need to hold a minimum of level 4 in English Language and Mathematics and have strengths in problem solving and ‘thinking outside the box’. You should also hold great communication skills and have a logical mindset.
If you have studied a subject such as computer science, this may be a role which you may find interesting.
Other skills required to be successful:
- Methodical approach to work.
- Ability to work to agreed timescales.
- Inquisitive.
