Position Summary:As a Technologist in Energizer’s Global Auto Care R&D Team, you will work with a team to perform laboratory experimentation and testing of products for this innovative and exciting business. You will provide a key role in the development of new product innovations as well as improvement of current products. The position, based in Rassau, Wales will provide support of our Global Auto Care brands such as Armor All, STP, A/C Pro, and Eagle One.
Responsibilities:Universal Accountabilities
- Suggests, organizes and executes experiments leading to new or improved products.
- Provides full documentation of results, creates and reviews reports that summarize data and conclusions.
- Operates instrumentation and performs manual tasks which include the mixing and handling of chemicals.
- Performs routine and non-routine calculations including statistical data analysis.
Practices proper safety procedures and reports unsafe acts or conditions.
Specific Accountabilities
- Learns how to use all lab scale equipment and related SOP's for batching, testing and quality purposes including operation of lab equipment such as surface tensiometer, viscometer, and mixer/blender.
- Prepares samples for qualitative and quantitative evaluation.
- Performs testing of containers, valves, and gauges to assess quality and performance.
- Develops an understanding of product fundamentals including relationship between process, raw materials and other interactions taking place.
- Provides formulation assistance: calculates amount of ingredients needed for various batch requirements, weighs raw materials as determined by formula requirements for batch preparation, combines and processes weighted ingredients, and records all notable characteristics.
- Creates data reports with tables, charts, and graphs that include conclusions.
- Work with cross functional partners to communicate test results, status, and address questions.
- Identifies and implements continuous improvement measures. Serves on project teams as needed.
- Completes assigned laboratory safety and operation duties such as waste disposal and inventory management.
- May also perform additional duties as assigned.
Ideally we are seeking candidates with the following:
- Three years of pertinent college course work or equivalent experience/education and a good fundamental understanding of higher-level chemistry, mathematics, and laboratory practices or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge in Microsoft office applications including word and excel.
- Five or more years of demonstrated related experience in a technical laboratory or similar environment would be advantageous.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other relevant scientific field.
- Experience in product related consumer product testing.
