Responsabilities:
- Lead in troubleshooting of issues that arise during ground/air tests during trials and on the production line
- Lead fault finding for electronics, mechanical and software components
- Report to management on open issues, the frequency and type of issues
- Collate suggestions for improvement in each product line or individual component that can be fed into design updates
- Write monthly engineering reports for contracts
- Work with R&D and the production manager to ensure prototypes are transferred smoothly into production
- Collaborate with other departments to deconflict integration issues.
- Instruct technicians on manufacture and testing procedures
- Lead flight test team when operating aircraft with newly integrated features
- Support flight testing and demonstrations in the UK and overseas
- Define and ensure constant compliance with safety procedures
- Write and follow trials plans and safety cases
Qualifications and Experince:
Essential:
- Previous work experience within an engineering team
- Good broad electronics knowledge, including digital communications, analogue, PSUs, batteries and embedded system design
- Working knowledge of control systems (PID control)
- Experience in fault-finding in mechanical, electronics and/or software systems.
- Project management experience (maintaining a project plan, budget and reporting to management)
Desirable:
- Proficient in SolidWorks
- Understanding of CAA and OFCOM certification/exemption processes
- Proficient with 3D printing and other techniques used in rapid prototyping
- Knowledge of Flight Controllers
- Experience working with carbon fibre composite manufacture techniques
- Proficient in either C++ or Python
- Knowledge of flight control systems
- General knowledge of aviatio
- Experience with unmanned/manned aircraft tests
- PCB design
- Degree or equivalent in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering or similar
- Minimum 3 years of industrial experience
